Ban on Faxed Prescriptions Deadline Moved

Much to the relief of Medicare doctors who rely on computer-generated faxes to send prescriptions to pharmacies, the banning of faxed prescriptions deadline has been moved to Jan. 1, 2012. Without this delay, those physicians would have to go back to paper-based prescriptions.
However, Medicare physicians should focused on CMS’ new e-prescribing program which allows for bonus for 4 years beginning in 2009.
The final ruling on the 2009 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule can be accessed on CMS’ Web site. Click on “CMS-1403-FC” under “Downloads”.
